Debt relief / Debts we cover

What qualifies, and what doesn't

Debt relief only works on unsecured debt — balances with no collateral behind them. Here's the line between what can be enrolled and what can't.

Generally eligible

Credit cards, medical bills, personal loans, collections accounts, and some personally-guaranteed unsecured business debt.

  • Credit cards — bank cards, store cards, gas cards
  • Medical bills already in collections
  • Unsecured personal and online-lender installment loans
  • Charged-off balances held by a collection agency
02

Not eligible

Secured and protected debt follows its own process and generally can't be enrolled.

  • Mortgages and auto loans (secured by property)
  • Federal student loans — see studentaid.gov
  • IRS and state tax debt — installment agreements available directly
  • Child support, alimony, court judgments and fines

If you're here about student loans or taxes

You can get help directly from the government at no cost. We'd rather point you there than enroll you in something that won't touch the balance.
